The 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, who tirelessly worked day and night for India’s independence using principles of truth, honesty, non-violence, and simplicity, was celebrated with grandeur at the premises of Chaitanya Service Society and Muthu English Medium School.
The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by the organization’s founder-chairman, Mr. MP Anandan, along with retired teacher Mr. Ramakrishna and other teaching staff of Muthu English Medium School. Students of the school delivered inspiring speeches and sang songs, expressing Gandhi’s role in education and his relentless fight for India’s freedom.
Young students, Muthu Mokshit dressed as Mahatma Gandhi and Chiranjeevi Kavitha Rani Harika dressed as former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, captivated the audience with their enactments.
Mr. Mohan Jammalamadugu, founder-chairman of Dilesh Education Welfare Society, praised Gandhi’s pivotal role in the freedom struggle, emphasizing the philosophy of “Ahimsa Paramo Dharma” and the weapon of non-violent resistance, Satyagraha. Ganesh from Yuva Shakti Foundation highlighted the importance of instilling good habits and moral behavior from a young age to lead a better life.
Dr. G.V.S. Babu, Administrative Director of Chaitanya Service Society, spoke about how Gandhi’s life at Tolstoy Farm in South Africa significantly shaped his fight against racial discrimination and ultimately led him to become the Father of the Nation, with his principles evolving into Gandhian philosophy.
General Secretary Kavitha Rani mentioned that Gandhi’s birth anniversary is celebrated worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence. She also highlighted the contributions of Lal Bahadur Shastri as Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Railway Minister, lauding his invaluable service to the country.
The event was attended by Treasurer and Headmistress Patnam Girijammal, teachers, students, and senior citizens from the Ananda Old Age Home.
