On the auspicious occasion of MP Anandan’s birthday, we celebrate not just the man, but the monumental legacy he has built through his tireless efforts for the underprivileged. Mr. MP Anandan, a retired ex-military officer, has dedicated his life to uplifting the marginalized and providing them with the essentials of life—food, shelter, and education—through the Chaitanya Charitable Organization.
Founding of Chaitanya Service Society
Established on 26th August 2002 by Mr. MP Anandan, Chaitanya Service Society has been a pillar of support for rural areas, especially focusing on homeless students, women, and the elderly. The organization has garnered recognition for its comprehensive programs aimed at medical awareness, environmental protection, and social welfare. The foundation of this remarkable journey can be traced back to Anandan’s profound respect for education and his personal experiences of hardship.
Inspiration from Father’s Struggles
MP Anandan’s father, Munigesan Picchi Muthu, was an orphan who grew up on the streets. Despite his circumstances, he worked in various homes and pursued his education, eventually becoming an electrical engineer in Srisailam. His father’s journey from a street boy to a professional served as a beacon of inspiration for Anandan. Recognizing his father’s sufferings and the transformative power of education, Anandan was driven to ensure that no child or individual should endure such hardships without support.
Establishment of the Orphanage and Rehabilitation Center
In 2009, Anandan established an orphanage and rehabilitation center under the auspices of Chaitanya Voluntary Seva. Initially starting with just five motherless children, he provided them with education, medical care, rehabilitation, health, and nutrition. Anandan’s approach was not just administrative; he personally ministered to these children, embodying the roles of both a father and a servant. This hands-on care highlighted his deep sense of responsibility toward society.
Anandan’s belief that “society is the temple and the people are the gods” guided his mission. Through Chaitanya’s charitable organization, he has provided shelter to over 400 students, offering them education and encouraging vocational training. His efforts have led to the successful marriage of ten orphan girls and the provision of jobs, fulfilling his responsibilities as a father figure to many.
Muthu English Medium School
In 2016, in memory of his father, Keerthyseshulu Munigation Picchi Muthu, Anandan established Muthu English Medium School with the support of the Andhra Pradesh government. The school caters to many deprived children who, due to family circumstances, remain child laborers and fear education. Currently, 95 children are studying at this school, receiving quality education and a chance for a brighter future.
Support for the Elderly and Cremation Services
Anandan’s compassion extends beyond children to the elderly as well. For the past ten years, Ananda Vriddhashram has provided shelter to ten elderly people and conducted cremations for those who died due to illness. This initiative ensures dignity in both life and death for the most vulnerable in society.
Support from Family and Community
Despite not possessing substantial personal assets, Anandan’s journey has been supported by his wife, Patnam Girijammal, who works as an RTC conductor. Their combined efforts, perseverance, and blessings have enabled the Mahavriksha Chaitanya Charitable Service Organization to shelter many orphans and provide a robust education system for 22 years.
