In collaboration with the international NGO A21 from Australia and The Movement India from Mumbai, and with the support of Grama Jyothi Society Madanapalle, Chaitanya Voluntary Service Society organized a silent “Walk for Freedom” at Kallikiri Indian Public High School. The event aimed to raise awareness about human trafficking as part of a nationwide initiative.
During the event, MP Anandan, Administrative Director Dr. G. Subrahmanyam Babu, General Secretary A. Kavitha Rani of Chaitanya Voluntary Service Society, and representatives from A21, Nick Cain, The Movement India – Sam Koshi, Esther Anna Koshi, and Gwyneth Felicia Poldas, along with Grama Jyothi Society’s B. Subhadra, were all present and extended their gratitude.
On the occasion of October 19th, the participants of this silent march raised their voices in support of freedom, justice, and human dignity. General Secretary A. Kavitha Rani, while speaking at the event, emphasized the importance of this walk, stating, “This is a walk for freedom, a walk for justice, a walk for hope, and a walk for restoration. Every step we take is to end slavery. We believe in a world without slavery, and we know that the ultimate victory for freedom is achievable.” She urged people to join this fight, noting that 49.6 million people worldwide are still trapped in modern-day slavery according to the 2024 International Labour Organization (ILO) report, including organ trafficking, sexual exploitation, forced marriages, and labor. She added that awareness and vigilance can help prevent this crisis, and shared helpline numbers such as 1098 and 181 to report trafficking and seek assistance.
