International Day of Older Persons Celebrations
chaitanyaThe International Day of Older Persons was grandly celebrated at Anand Old Age Home, which is managed by Chaitanya Voluntary Service Society, under the leadership of MP Anandan at Devata Nagar, 4th Road, Madanapalle.
The event commenced with a warm welcome, where General Secretary A. Kavitha Rani of the organization presented floral bouquets to MP Anandan, the Treasurer Mrs. Patnam Girijammal, and Lakshmipathi Reddy, the 8th Ward Councilor of Thattivaripalli Panchayat.
Since its establishment in 2009, Chaitanya Voluntary Service Society has been providing shelter and care to not only abandoned children but also to homeless elderly people. The organization has been a source of food, shelter, health care, and social and psychological support. Till date, the organization has extended help to 79 elderly individuals, including conducting funeral rites for some of them. On August 6, 2022, Anand Old Age Home received its official registration and recognition under Chaitanya Voluntary Service Society.
Currently, Anand Old Age Home provides shelter to three women and seven men, as informed by General Secretary A. Kavitha Rani.
During the event, MP Anandan spoke passionately, stating that children who cannot honor their parents will never truly grow, and with the blessings of their parents, any child can achieve greatness. He further shared that through the Anand Old Age Home, he sees his own parents in the elderly residents and takes joy in supporting them. His sole aim is to witness the happiness in the eyes of these elderly residents.
In addition to the speeches, towels and bed sheets were distributed to the elderly residents. The residents shared their experiences and praised the services provided by Anand Old Age Home.
The program saw participation from the management of Chaitanya Voluntary Service Society, including MP Anandan, Treasurer Patnam Girijammal, General Secretary A. Kavitha Rani, the staff of Anand Old Age Home, as well as the elderly residents and staff of Chaitanya Voluntary Service Society.
